Dear Parent / Carer
High Priority – Change in Data Protection Regulations
(Please return relevant documentation by Friday 11 May 2018)
At Headlands School, we aim to provide a positive, aspirational learning environment to support all our students in improving their life chances. In order to achieve this, we need to work in partnership with parents, students, governors, the Local Authority and carefully selected outside agencies.
We are the Data Controller for the purposes of the data protection regulations and the personal data we hold is used to support teaching and learning, monitoring and reporting on your child’s progress, provide appropriate pastoral care and assess how well your child is doing.
Due to the new data protection regulations with effect from 25 May 2018, schools must now provide parents with an opportunity to ‘opt in or out’ of any data sharing unless the law and our rules permit it. However, we are required by law to pass some of your information to the Local Authority (LA) and the Department for Education (DfE).
We attach a copy of our ‘How we use Student Information Notice’ detailing the following:
Please find enclosed a copy of our Student Acceptable Usage Policy. Also enclosed are copies of the Consent form for taking and using Photos/Video Recording and the Student Contact Information we currently hold, please check the details carefully and complete these document to the Main Office by Friday 11 May 2018.
We thank you for your continued support and are happy to answer any further questions you may have. All documents are available for viewing on the school website www.headlandsschool.co.uk and we encourage you to check regularly for updated documentation.
