Ex-Headlands School student & Professional Performer
On Monday 4 December 2017 I had the pleasure of meeting Maggie Gray. Maggie attended Headlands School between 1966 and 1971 where her talent for music, in particular playing the clarinet, was nurtured and shaped. Maggie talked fondly of her memories of her Music Teacher, Mr Sunderland who was Head of Music at the time. In addition she also spoke warmly about her peri-teacher, Mr Cash.
During her time at Headlands School Maggie played in the Yorkshire Youth Orchestra and went onto study Music at Trinity College, London. Maggie has had, and continues to have, a successful career in the West End performing clarinet, saxophone and flute in shows like Cats, Starlight Express, Phantom of the Opera and Grease.
Maggie has kindly donated 3 copies of her new book “The Ultimate Clarinet Book for Beginners” to the students of Headlands School. Should anyone be interested in purchasing a copy they can be found at https://www.amazon.co.uk/Ultimate-Clarinet-Book-Beginners-Precision/dp/1999783700/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1512986364&sr=8-3&keywords=beginners+clarinet+book priced at £12.97.
On behalf of the Governors, Staff, Students and Parents of Headlands School it was a real privilege to meet Maggie and we wish her continued success in her career as Professional Performer, Author and Music Teacher. Please also go to www.takenote-music.co.uk for more information.
