Uniform Letter

Further to our recent Uniform Consultation I am writing to inform you of the outcome of the process.

Dear Parents / Carers

Re: Outcome of Uniform Consultation

Further to our recent Uniform Consultation I am writing to inform you of the outcome of the process.

I would like to firstly say thank you to all the parents / carers who replied to the consultation and to those who provided constructive, supportive feedback. In total 252 replies were received which represents 25% of our student population.

Initial feedback from parents & carers, staff and students was shared with the Governing Bodies Behaviour & Safety Committee on the 9 March 2017 and then again at the Full Governors Meeting on Thursday 30 March 2017.

Needless to say the subject of “uniform” always creates debate. Please be assured the Governing Body discussed and debated the issues raised by parents / carers, staff and students before reaching final decisions. The outcome of this discussion was to make changes to Headlands School Uniform from September 2017. The agreed Uniform will be:-

  • Black blazer with school logo*
  • Headlands School tie in Red and Black stripe**
  • Plain, collared white shirt
  • Black V-neck jumper or cardigan (optional)***
  • Black trousers
  • Flat black shoes
  • Charcoal grey pleated skirt****

*Headlands School will provide students with a free iron-on logo. Blazers will be compulsory.
**Headlands School will provide students in Years 7 – 11 with a free tie if they do not have this tie already i.e. they are not a student currently in Twickenham House.
***Students can choose to wear a jumper or cardigan with the Headlands School logo on it, but this is optional. Students can therefore also wear a plain black jumper or cardigan.
****If skirts are deemed too short they must be replaced by parents / carers or black trousers must be worn.

As in previous years, we are not stipulating a preferred supplier for any of our uniform items, and in particular blazers. However we do stock our uniform items at Price & Buckland - http://www.price-buckland.co.uk, K & A Sales, 11 Prospect Street Bridlington and Pineapple Joes - http://www.pineapplejoes.com. We are also very aware large chain supermarkets sell black blazers for schools both in store and online starting at £10.00.

Finally, we are proud to be a school that believes in the value of high standards and will continue to work tirelessly to ensure your child has the best possible educational experience here at Headlands School. Thank you for your on-going support.

Yours sincerely
Mrs S Bone
