History

Key Stage 3

We follow a chronological course of History from the 11th century to the 20th century.

In Year 7 we study from the Middle Ages to the 17th century, covering the Middle Ages, The Tudors and Stuarts and the English Civil War.

In Year 8 we study the Slave Trade, the industrial changes in Britain and the growth of the towns. We also study the Suffragettes and the First and Second World Wars.


Key Stage 4

In KS4 (Years 9-11) we study OCR SHP GCSE.

This is broken down in five sections, each worth 20% of the final exam and grade.

The People’s Health, 1250 to the present.

Elizabethan England, 1580-1503

Local Study: Scarborough Castle

The Making of America, 1789-1900

Living under Nazi Rule, 1933-1945


Key Stage 5

We have chosen a varied course for A Level, which is assessed through three final exams and one personal study.

During this course we will study:

Unit Y221: Democracy and Dictatorships in Germany 1919–1963 (15% of total A Level.)

Unit Y106: The Early Tudors, 1485-1547, (25% of total A Level.)

Unit 312: Popular Culture and the Witchcraze of the 16th and 17th Centuries. (40% of total A Level.)

Unit Y100: Topic based essay on the Holocausts. (20% of total A Level.)
