Today, we attended a Public Health Incident Management Team Meeting in respect of COVID-19. From the data presented it is clear the number of cases in the East Riding, and in Bridlington, have risen exponentially over the last two weeks.

For example, at the height of the pandemic in November 2020, 150 people per day were becoming infected.  Today, the figure is 400 cases per day.

In the 11-16 age range in the East Riding at the start of June there were 36 cases per 100,000.  Today the figure is 1317 cases per 100,000.

As a result, running our amazing Sports Day with the current rate of community transmission, and in particular transmission amongst young people, is judged to be too great a risk to public health.

Sports Day will therefore be postponed and instead run on Thursday 16th September 2021 – please book this date in your diaries!

We appreciate this will be disappointing for many of our students.  However, with 54% of our students in self-isolation and 50% of those not isolating able to attend Sports Day, we are acutely aware many of our students would have missed out on this amazing day – through no fault of their own.

Live lessons will continue as normal on Thursday.

Thank you once again for your patience and support,
